Star Wars Outlaws
On the one hand, this is probably one of my favorite open-world games of recent memory. The diversity and authenticity of the environments make each planet a joy to simply exist in, and the game nails the criminal underworld aspects. This is one of the most immersive Star Wars experiences available, surpassing even the newest Star Wars Jedi games in that department, and writing and characterization are also top notch. On the other hand, it's death-by-a-thousand-cuts with number of small annoyances that degrade the experience and harm extended play. These range from the peculiar (why can't I carry picked-up weapons up ladders?) to the rage-inducing (wonky speeder handling and stealth mechanics). I love spending time in these worlds, I just can't do it for very long, which makes this a game I hop in and out of. Which is a shame - a little more polish and this could have been spectacular. Hopefully some patches are issued to help smooth over some of the friction. Update 09/25/24 - the developer just announced they are issuing patches for combat, stealth and other quality of life mechanics, so I'll revisit and post my thoughts in the future.

Think I might do the same! I'm planning on waiting for the PS5 Pro upgrade & their other upcoming updates before carrying on with my playthrough.
